QUITO, Ecuador, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Ecuador produced an average of 385,265 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil in January, up 4.0 percent from the same month last year, a government official said Tuesday.
A spokesman for the government's National Petroleum Department told Reuters average output in January 1999 was 371,283 bpd, while in December 1999 it was 381,869 bpd.
Oil production averaged 373,290 bpd in 1999.
Ecuador is Latin America's sixth largest oil producer and fourth largest oil exporter. Oil is Ecuador's main export, ahead of bananas and shrimp.
